Moonsong Part II

In softer beams than golden sun
In she offers comfort, safe and warm
For though to us she brings no heat
Her heart it pulses every beat
Her blood a liquid silver boon
A song of life of love of truth
A glistening mirror in the sky
Of souls beneath her watchful eye

Not watching us with pique or ire
But out of mirth and to admire
To help and heal and offer aid
As weary vagrants make their way
Upon the earth in sweet and toil
He laughing eyes a smirk a foil

Sweet song, symphony
Soft now, trembling

Author's Note:

This song has a different meter than I would have intended for a song to be set to music; more jovial and with a faster, more upbeat tempo than I intentioned. But sometimes the writing just pours out of you and you can't really say no! Perhaps in the future I will write a more contemplative song about my beloved Moon as I meant this one to be. Perhaps not. But I hope you can enjoy this one in the meantime!

Moonsong Part I

Cast in silver, spun of light
The heavens shed a brilliant light
Snow white, glistening,
moon-bright, listening

She wheels above the heavens high
Or skips in flowing water nigh
In running streams she dips her feet
In silver dells she skips and leaps
Uncaught by any mortal man
She zips across the heavens' span
In fragrant songs of skillful might
She weaves her dances through the night

In Maker's hand she throws her rays
A reverence to Him all her days
And still to many darkened soul
she brings the light of peace and hope
For through a bleak and hopeless night
She offers still her beams of light

Hope she whispers, hope she brings
Reflecting in the flowing streams
"look up beyond your sorrows here,
Look up to One who holds you dear
If in the hollows of His hand
I travel heavens vast and grand,
If in the deep you see my face,
Remember His unfading grace
For though my light may wax and wane,
His love for you remains unchanged"

Cast in silver, spun of night
She bares for all her radiant light
Soft touch, whispering
White beams, lingering

All creation hears her tale
And sings in shadow calm and gale
Simple chorus sweet and strong
An ache of bones, ache to belong
To love to live to feel His heart
In endless light, in storm and dark

Wolves

We are hunters in the dark
We fight for love, we fuel the spark
The Shadows lengthen all around
The night grows deep –yet still the sound
The call, the song, the cry the scream
Burns in our blood, weaves through our veins

We fight for them–the weak, the small
Next to the light, our shadows tall
We fuel the flames through tears, despair
We slay the lie that 'no one cares'

Though just a cry, a whispered breath,
Our call to arms puts fear to death
Through mumbled prayers, silent pleas
We garner strength to lend the weak
And though we cannot reach them all
We sound alarms, we cry, we call
And into larger hands than ours
Give to the one who made the stars
Each lonely soul and riven heart
And still we fan the dying spark
With loud defiance, silent tears
With sounding call with time and years

And so through every aching night
Through sleepless dreams and lonely fight
Through every hour spent in pain,
groping for proof you're not alone
Know this, my friend; you don't know me,
But by your side, I'll gladly bleed
So when you think there's no one there
Remember this; we see, we care
We may not know your deepest woe
But we'll bear arms to fight your foes

'til every last and breaking heart
Leaves loved and fuller than before
So lean on us, brother, on me
You'll find we don't break easily
Be honest—share your hurt, your griefs
We'll strive to bring you comfort, peace

Dawn Shadows

In silent shadows walked alone,
In silver meadows before dawn
In dreams of yearning yet undone
She dwelt in contemplation

A silver pipe was by her side,
Its music haunting lullabies
Its aching tunes throughout the night
Were heard by man and beast alike

Many turned in sad dismay
No hope was heard in this array
Of notes weaved thus so sorrowfully

Yet one, he heard and hearkened then
And came with yearnings deep as hers
They met in shadows before dawn
And filled the void of night with words

The tune she sang, a longing one,
Was joined by harmonies of bronze
Then gold became the notes they sang,
In darkened shadows before dawn

For in her voice, when joined with his,
A blade of light pierced through the mist
The souls of longing and hope kissed
As on they sang and light it sprang
from in the dark where walked these souls
Their sorrow melting in the dawn
As light realized what they had known
And felt and feared and hoped was true
That love could truly conquer all,
But only when ‘twas self did fall
Upon the sword that slays his pride
For love is true when self has died.

The End

Life is really great till it's not.
Death is so far till it's here.
A battle isn't won till it's fought
Courage always accompanies fear.
A soul isn't free till it's bought.
And Heaven isn't clear till it's near.
Hold on my dear..I'll be there in a day as soon as the Son chases the shadows away.
No more will I watch, grieve, or pray. Together we'll be and Together we'll stay.

Never Thought

20 years ago you could not have told me that I'd be standing here right now.
If life could be linked to a person and seen in a flash, I would not have chosen you.
But yet, here I stand..On mother's day.
A woman who was never destined to give birth, stands next to her child, stands next to her daughter.
A woman who loved a married man may have been forever marred from God's redemption and here I stand at the front of this little church.
God called out to me in my time of wrongful and regretful decisions, he saw where love was needed and transformed my mess into a message of faith.
I am a barren mother of four beautiful girls.
I still recall that moment of prayer when the desire to have children left me, because God had something better in mind.
My heart became lost in a false dream when I saw him and I was deceived, but do the consequences of my belief outweigh my benefits?
There have been times where I have thought yes.. But as I stand, staring at my grandchildren in my son in law's church, next to my daughter.. I would say at the end of it all, no. No, they do not.

What Are You Doing?

Your fixin' to destroy your life what are you doing?
Your too young to think about being a wife what are you doing?
I never thought you'd cause me so much strife what are you doing?
I feel like I'm being shredded by your backstabbing knife what are you
doin?
I never thought this is the path you'd be choosen.
Why do you insist on sinking into ruin?
Why is your behavior so confusin?
Why do I feel like your someone I'm losin'?
Why does my heart ache from the bruisen?
Why do you act like your just crusin?
What kind of fiction are you pursuin'?
Spit out the chunk of lies your chewin?
Cause I don't want to be here for the viewin', you can't see things that
have been proven, but in the midst of all this abusin' I just have one question that
I can't help but keep producin'..
Tell me, please, tell me..What on earth are you doin?

Transformation

Wretched, sinful, and foolish
To serve the devil I oft strayed
Greed, lust, and adultery
Away from my Lord, my God I stayed

Serving only myself and my pleasure
Seeking happiness and ease
Looking out for me alone
No one but myself to please

As a man bound at the noose
I had no hope of freedom
But Christ came up and said
“Take my life, instead, and free him!”

They led me down the gallows
They tied and abused my Lord
They put on me his kingly robes
And around his neck my cord

The story, if finished here,
Can have no happy ending
His sacrifice forever vain
For God’s law is never bending

For from the cross they took his body
And placed him in a borrowed tomb
The sinless man, the perfect Saviour
The holy, righteous bridegroom

But three days later the stone was moved
Where he lay, only now his burial clothes
The women came and found an empty tomb
For in glorious victory, my Saviour arose

Conquering all of death and hell
Covering mans sin and condemnation
God’s love redeems and it purifies
Bringing new life and new salvation

This life the saviour gave so freely
This amnesty poured out upon me
Transforms my life and my actions
Newly conforms my life to thee

I did not change my heading slightly
Nor did I merely add God in
The life I had before is dead
I’ve been completely born again

Now I will look to eternity
And to my saviour on the throne
I will long for streets of gold
To be in the presence of God alone

For the Lord I shall lift my voice
For his name I shall sing praise
For his kingdom I will work
In him I will glory all my days

What I Beheld

Today I saw and beheld
A dazzling throne, a beautiful love
A man so divine, so perfect, so true
A lamb on a throne, ruling above

They were there with angels about
They were there in Unity
Seraphim and Cherubim sang out
The perfect three, Trinity

Today I saw and beheld
A wretch, his soul he did sell
A man made by God, sinner
Deserving of death, of Hell

He was sprawled on the floor
His sins on display before all
A man so lowly and destitute
A man who once stood tall

Today I saw and beheld
The lamb, Christ, came down
He lifted the man from the floor
He laid on his head a Crown

Christ turned to the throne
And said "This one is mine.
I died for your sins.
Righteousness is thine"

His robes for mine: O wonderful exchange!
Clothed in my sin, Christ suffered ‘neath God’s rage.
Draped in His righteousness, I’m justified.
In Christ I live, for in my place He died.

(Last stanza taken from the hymn "His Robes for Mine" by Chris Anderson)

Complete in Glory

This savior so loving
Took us from the grave
He holds us close to him
He forgives and he saves

Unending love
Unfailing mercy
Full in strength
Complete in glory

We fail and we falter
We sin over and again
He remains and is steadfast
He is love from beginning to end

Unending love
Unfailing mercy
Full in strength
Complete in glory

We reject, we forget him
We mock and we scorn
He secures our salvation
His faithfulness well borne

Unending love
Unfailing mercy
Full in strength
Complete in glory

Christ Will Return

Christ will return
Revealing his power
Coming for his people...
We await the hour

What majesty displayed
What holiness beheld
What glory exposed
His promises upheld

Those he made to his disciples
Those proclaimed by all the saints
Those that hold his authority
That will one day break all restraints

He promises redemption
As Boaz did to Ruth
Redemption from our sins
Leading us to his truth

He promises a new earth
A place for us to dwell
Freed from the threat of death
Freed from the threat of hell

He promises communion
With all the saints of earth
With all the saints of time
With those who have had rebirth

He promises life eternal
But not for our own pleasure
To see him enthroned above
To worship him forever

Death, Where is Thy Sting?

Death, where is thy sting?
Death, where is thy Victory?
Christ's blood was spilled on the cross,
You have no power over me.

You try and ruin this life,
The life Christ feelly gives
Yet through the death of my savior,
I will truly live.

This life is not of this world
Not of flesh and bone
But life in Jesus' arms
Through him, and him alone.

Satan try's to steal
Our life and those we love
But we do not go to the grave
But with those who live above.

Of this he does not know
Of this he cannot understand
The love of God above
This mystery so grand.

Untitled Poem

One day the picture will be made true
One day we'll see the me and the you
The beauty of soul that was always there
But yet unearthed and now laid bare

The scratches and flaws now polished away
The stains of regret and of heartache and pain
The grief of our sin and the sins against us
All lost in the light of the rising sun

The leaves for the healing of nations
The river of life for our thirst
The joy of an unending morning
Without ache or the fear of the hurt

And the song that within us was growing
We'll be made at last to sing out
The sin that within us was groaning
Will be, like the darkness, shut out

Never again will we hunger
Never again be enslaved
Never again will we wander
Our spirits will be unrestrained
Free in the light of the Last One
Free in the light of the First
The Adam that came and the Adam that was
And the Eve that gave second birth

And we'll cherish the light of His promise
No longer in hope but made true
And we'll fear no more doubt
but relinquish a shout
at the glory of Bride and of Groom
